DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: An idea that comes from the purchase of my first dog, an American Akita named Aki. For her I designed the first bed called Dune.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I focus attention on everything that animals might like, transforming hypothetical needs into refined and elegant objects. I aimed to achieve a meaningful combination between comfort and beauty with essential quality.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: My future plan for this award winning design is making the new trend dedicated to the pet world known to the wide and always more attentive public.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: I think I spent a few months working on sketches, graphic and executive elaborations and prototypes.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: As i have already said, initially I wanted to design a bed for my dog Aki, therefore a project was born from a personal will, then it became a far-sighted project.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: No, for now I want to check and control production myself, because only then I can check the quality of Brando branded products. No concession has been signed with other companies.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Basically, the enthusiasm pushed me to do this drawings with the aim of becoming a reference in Europe for quality and design.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: No design o designer has influenced my drawings. Every object comes from inspiration. We are all constantly influenced by a society that changes with new lifestyles, and new trends.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The target customers of this design are all pet lovers looking for exclusivity and beauty, and possessing economic capacity.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: This design identifies itself with its own autonomy and function. I could define it "a furnishing complement".
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Each piece of Pet Home Collection comes from a definite inspiration, which is reflected in its name. Dune is inspired by a freedom of a landscape of soft curves. Kanak revisits the intertwining arts of the indigenous world. Baco has a silkworm concept, where everything takes its shape and life. Cat60 is an Italian design tribute from the 60s. Tunnel is a reference of contemporary culture in architecture.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: A pencil and colors are always excellent working tools for the first reflections.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The recognizability of each proposed piece with its own different characteristics, designed for different animal instincts.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I collaborated with my colleague from the studio. We have been working together for many years. Each different technique applied is the result of research and work in collaboration with different companies.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Technology is an indispensable tool to achieve quality and reduce a part of production costs.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Enthusiasm is important for any new wok, but then you have to deal with numbers as well. I made a market research in order to learn everything world proposes for this sector.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: From the conception of the project to its construction there are several phases on which we must work carefully, analyzing every small aspect. The difficulty is to transform a graphic sign into a finite element, without adding further lines to the project.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I decided to submit my designs to an international design competition because i believe that good design must gather broad international criticism.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: In the work of an architect and a designer every experience always marks an important professional step. Idro Montanelli at the age of 90 said: "I have reached the threshold of knowledge...".
