DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The project is located in Chongyang, known as "the hometown of Chinese folk art". The hotel is characterized by light luxury, intelligence, comfort and elegance, and introverted luxury. With the beauty of nature and the beauty of humanities, it is clear that the style is different from the local hotels, and the theme of the city business hotel is distinctive.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Continuous participation, increase the exposure rate
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The customer entrusted us with full responsibility,Pay attention to the combination of movement and quiet, the openness and privacy, and beautifully plan out a space that can be read quietly, and reveal the quality from subtle aspects.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Business travelers are the target customers,Chongyang is surrounded by mountains on all sides. It is known as the hometown of "Tiancheng";. There are peaks, mountains, springs, and stones, and there are historic sites in Han, Tang, song and Ming Dynasties. In the past, the famous "eight scenery of Chongyang" in the county, the design of this case was centered on the eight scenes, combined with local culture and living habits, adding elegant rhyme to the hotel, providing different living experience.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: There are three main difficulties. The first part is the aesthetic difference between traditional culture and modern lifestyle. We need careful refinement and integration. The second part is time pressure, and the entire project should be completed within 10 months from the beginning to the end. We must digest a lot of materials and quickly provide practical design and construction solutions. The third part is the economy. The owner asked us to control the cost as much as possible, using simple materials and processes to complete the project. However, we must ensure its artistic quality and overall effect.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: It is very interesting to participate in the international influential competition, and I will continue to participate in this competition.
