DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The concept of the Dialogue clock is a new perspective on Time.
As is in a dialogue between people - there are two different positions: they are changing in time, but they are in connection with each other. This idea found its reflection in the clock design.
Time is the common voice of all nations and cultures. The most inspirational goal for the designer is to refresh a view of a simple everyday object.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I was willing to show, how one can change the view on the regular perception time. Each time when my kids were learning about time, there were some difficulties with the understanding. I was wondering if it was possible to create a clock without arrows.
The presented version of this clock we tested by children of different ages at an international school and they found it very intuitive and were able to easily figure out the time. So I consider the experiment was successful.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I would like to find a company, which would be interested in the manufacturing and selling this Dialogue Clock.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Not yet. Yes, I will be happy to see The Dialogue Clock in the range of the leading company.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The discs are changing in time – they create different graphical combination. There is an illusion that they are in the communication with each other: they are in the dialogue.
For me one of the objectives as designers is to create something humane, which invites people to talk to each other, to be in a dialogue.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: The new view on A daily life object.
