DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: All that support that stabilizes a spherical shape like the foot of a wine glass or the support of a golf ball.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The focus of the design of The Frog has been to create a piece that offers maximum stability to the majority of helmets in the market with the minimum size.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Offer it to the best helmets and motorbikes companies in the world to make known its usefulness.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: Because 90% of its design comes from its own functionality and usefulness.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: It was a personal search.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I decided to look for a solution to a personal problem, I love motorcycles but I hate that my helmets deteriorate and fall.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: The Frog is not inspired by any previous design or any specific designer.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Motorcycle users, Bike users, Ski users, Skate users, motorized police,
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: There is only one similar concept in the world market and its main difference is that The Frog is conceived in a single small piece while the other design is conceived in two much more bulky pieces.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name of the design arose from the similarity of the shape of its fingers with those of the Thrydactilus frogs and with its known quality of adherence.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Molding materials such as clay, plastelina and plaster molds at the beginning. Then we use 3D programs, Photoshop, Indesign, etc.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Great stability in the minimum size / tripod shape of the gadget arises when applied to the surface of the helmet.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: With the company ISC SL Plàstics. Yes, I worked with an Engineer of that company who generated the final plans of The Frog and with whom we obtained the first samples through a 3D printer.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: It has made possible the final realization of the injection mold and of all the professional finishes that surround all the parts of the product: piece, adhesive, packaging.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: No.
All the investigations that surrounded the creation of The Frog were carried out through tests and errors.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Reduce the size and thickness of the piece as well as find the distances that offer the greatest stability of the gadget in the minimum size. The difficulties in choosing the right material to achieve: Good finish, adhesion with the adhesive and the necessary hardness to achieve the minimum rebound of the piece.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I think The Frog can offer a really useful service to their clients and I think it's a good way to try to get the necessary visibility so that I can reach them.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: The Frog has taught me how beautiful and difficult it's to develop a project to its last detail and will serve as an example to face future projects.
