DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The concept was based on the plot's positition, the last house on mulholand drive-california, having on the background the hollywood sign that was the base of the conceptual structure.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: To develop a foreward thinking concept house adapted to the plot's brief with outstanding solutions regarding structure, ecosostainability and modularity of the layout to fill the owner's needs.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: To develop a new way of thinking architecture. The haouse becomes not a static form but becomes a beeing that breathes and changes form in 24hours time.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The competition asked participants to design a house of the future which demonstrates the use of innovative technology, integrative environmental strategies, and capitalizes on the iconic prominence of its site beneath
the famed Hollywood sign.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: For now its just an innovative concept.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: we found the Archoutloud's International competition to design a house of the future was very appealing.

: No, just Joao Silva and Paola De Francesco

: Innovative enterprises
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The concept is similar to a ‘treasure flower’, a south African plant that blooms in the morning and closes its petals at night.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: It means that the house becomes a living beeing that breathes. Opens to the exterior and closes its shell like if it was breathing
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Hand sketching, modelling in 3dstudio, photoshop and illustrator

: The concept is similar to a ‘treasure flower’, a south African plant that blooms in the morning and closes its petals at night.

: Its a project that uses the newest techologies from the materials to engineering construction techniques

: We did 360° degrees night and day research about the theme "housing"- from concept to the needs, from the past to the future, from its basis to evolution...
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: If a concept like that could be easily reproducted as a standard.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Because the architectural ideas competitions are a great mean of exposing new ways of thinking
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: That this concept its very versatile and can be adapted to every plot's shape.
