DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: To transform Myura from a logo to a shape that stands as a handbag. The shape of the bag is inspired by the brand logo elements - the "hourglass"; and "diamond" shapes, hourglass and diamond represent the endurance of time passing, reflecting perfect quality produced. Our goal is to create a product that represent it brand.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: To create an iconic handbag that differed from others.The main focus is to create a high quality handmade luxury yet fashionable iconic handbag for the brand, it's a big step for MYURÂ to move forward and shine in public.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: We plan to produce the bag in "Pre-oder", we need to make sure the bag is create perfectly.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: From R&D and initial sketch to final 3D rendered model, it take approximately 70 days.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: It's inspiration, the idea for "Hourglass" and "Diamond" blending and distortion was found from building shadow blended.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: We will produce it in-house, of course we'r welcome collaboration if the company have a same vision with us.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Desire, it keep surfaced, we wanted to design the bag that can meet our pursuit
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: We design the handbag solely.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Our main target audience is female, aged around 20 or older.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The unique hourglass logo transform to handbag may apart it from other designs and products.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: We named it as Hourglass, because it is a iconic handbag. Iconic mean "timeless", and hourglass is an element that can represent time.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Pencil and art line pen sketches for the concept stage, modeled and rendered in 3ds Max.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The blended hourglass and diamond shape is the most unique aspect of the handbag .
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Technology is played a huge part for this handbag, from design to final product. Especially to construct it in solid shape with leather.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The most challenge is to create a mock-up of this handbag, one of the challenge was "diamond"shape wings. We do a lot version to get the correct wings angle and the joining part. The other challenge is to make the handbag structure stronger.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: We are proud that we made this design, at least until now we haven't seen the handbag with this unique shape. We feel it is a compelling design.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: We learned to find inspiration in the surroundings, think deeper and try bold in designing.
