DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: A tap with minimalistic design, so it integrates seamlessly with the interior design concept. The integrated handle defines this minimalism.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: We wanted to achieve a lightness and purity in form and function.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: We are searching for International agents to establish a worldwide distribution.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: Getting the design ready for market launch took us 2 years from idea until finished product.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: Something was lacking in our search for a contemporary line of taps to integrate in our interior concepts.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The product is manufactured by RVB, a Belgian expert company on tap line production.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Something was lacking in our search for a contemporary line of taps.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: residential clients
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: a strong, minimalist form, unusual for faucet design.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The product is named Andrew. It's a person's name so people can relate more to it.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: We have put a lot of sketches on paper and we used 3D modeling for finetuning. After that the manufacturer made soma prototypes with we enhanced during each stage of the design until we were completely satisfied with the final result.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The integrated handle follows the outline of the tap.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We have put the first sketches on paper before we searched for the best production partner. We found our partner in the Belgian expert in faucet manufacturing, RVB.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: To be able to achieve the most minimalist form, we made use of joystick technology.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The choice and handling of materials was the most challegi,ng part of the process. It resulted in the use of massive brass instead of an assembling procedure.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Because we feel proud about our design.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: We learned that bringing creativity and technical expertise together excels in the design result.
