: The inspiration came from micro-expression.

: This mask was created to make people examine one's own conscience.

: This project started from scratch since 2010

: This is a pursuit of an inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: It’s not being produced or used by another company. I plan to sell or lease the production rights or to produce my work by myself.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: “Billy Julie” stands for micro-expression. Since human face is a very compact display system, all kinds of emotions are displayed on a single and small footage with various subtle adjustments of muscles.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: This is for individuals, collectors, or interior designers.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The way micro-expression is represented.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: “Billy Julie” is for two sets of personalities.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Rapid-Prototyping (RP) technology and parametric design software
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Creating an interface and an interpreter for people

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: It’s very crucial in controlling design quality and explore design possibilities.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I have been working on the research of micro-expression which shows up when people try to hide emotion.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: People usually care about if a mask fit well. Can this perception be changed? How about if the general impression is reversed to also care about what a mask looks inside and to think about the nature of wearing a mask installation. So a mask is created to make people think (before putting it on) and to examine one's own conscience, not from how people think of a person from the other side of the mask. Now a mask becomes an interpreter.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I think it’s time to meet people, to introduce myself, and discuss concept with people.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: The preliminary jury did help
