DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
DL : The main principle behind smart cameras is to provide safe, convenient and intelligent monitoring services. By leveraging artificial intelligence, deep learning and image recognition technologies, they enable intelligent face recognition, behavioral analysis and real-time alerts. The idea is to provide round-the-clock monitoring and protection to ensure the safety of users by using the latest technological means. They are inspired by people's need for security and the constant pursuit of technology, and are committed to providing smarter and more efficient monitoring solutions.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
DL : It is designed in homage to the Bauhaus and we emphasize more on the functional and practical abilities. Without complicated design, we use simple, clear geometrical forms to shape the body of the product, hoping it can perfectly serve the functions. We differentiate our product from competitors by innovating transformable design. The current working state can be easily checked due to the directional and deformation abilities, providing uses all-new experience.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
DL : Promote the design concept of the product, listen to user feedback, and gradually improve and iterate on the design. I hope this design can bring users a new experience.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
DL : The client commissioned the design, continuously honed the initial idea in the conceptual design concept process, and finally got the current design prototype through multiple rounds of design revisions
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
DL : My design application was used in Psync's first product, from concept design to digital model to rendering, which I made and licensed to Psynce
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
DL : I worked with the designer Milian Lu, who is an experienced designer with a unique sense of beauty, and we finished the work together
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
DL : Home security, baby care, record life,
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
DL : Different from similar products, it has a unique design composition. Through the deformation ability, change the fuselage state to remind the user of the current product status. It's a very creative and innovative design.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
DL : Smart and funny like an elf
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
DL : Design research, style positioning, user research, hand-drawing, digital model making, 3D rendering
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
DL : The Genie S is a home security camera, it is committed to focus on product functions to differentiate itself from competitors. By shaping with geometrical forms, current working state can be presented through directional and deformation abilities. All-new Open Box design offers you fascinating interactive.it is the first ever GPT-enabled camera, featuring full-screen, vertical orientation, and 2K image quality. seamlessly Integrated, the smallest dual-axis camera to date.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
DL : Product designers, electronics engineers, structural engineers work with them to build the product.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
DL : Their expertise provides irreplaceable technical evaluation, device selection and provision of the necessary production elements during the design process
