DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
GH : The idea was to create a façade that spoke to the city and the nature of the place, that made this transition, something flexible and sustainable, that did not generate so much waste, a cleaner architecture, in every sense.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
GH : My main focus was to contribute positively to the city's urban landscape and to generate more comfort for the building's residents.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
GH : I hope to be able to contribute more and more to the development of facades that make cities more interesting and customers more satisfied.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
GH : One year.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
GH : I, together with the client, decided to bring a more innovative and sophisticated concept to the city of Itapema, a more current language, with lighter and more sustainable materials, a more organic design, different from what was being built here, the client gave me complete freedom.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
GH : In architecture it doesn't work like that, each project is unique.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
GH : On the trips I take around the world, I see a lot of new things, traveling inspires me a lot, when I return, I like to put into practice everything I've seen and learned.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
GH : Sure, many buildings around the world. I love the architects Arthur Casas and Isay Winfeld.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
GH : Construction Companies.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
GH : That. design differentiates by receiving special and differentiated treatment on its four facades.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
GH : Riverside 01, because its by a river.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
GH : Pencil and paper.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
GH : The design respects the curves of the river.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
GH : With My team.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
GH : Technology enters the materials and solutions used, such as ACM and also the green slabs.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
GH : We carried out field trips, to Milan, Sao Paulo and Curitiba, to analyze buildings and facades that most attracted us.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
GH : We had challenges regarding the architectural project, which came from another office, we had to readjust it so that the facade would be more interesting.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
GH : It was an old dream of mine, both to design a project of this size and to gain international recognition.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
GH : I greatly improved my project development and compatibility, as well as my creativity and research techniques.
