DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: We did some research about photographers' business cards and we realized we needed something that had to stand out.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The hardest part was to do something different that had never been done before and wouldn't leave anyone indifferent.
Business cards usually get lost or end up in a trash. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to create a business card that people would like to keep and even show to others.
Once I had the idea, the production was the next challenge. Alicia put the design in Photoshop and converted the living room in a dark room. Since the letters of the design are a bit blurred on purpose, it was a bit difficult to know when the design was in focus with the analog camera. On top of that, being in the dark it was hard to know if the frame was centered and we had to wait to develop the first roll to see the results. We did some tests until it was perfect.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I stumbled into some design winners from the last year's competition and I realized that there was a category that fitted perfect for my design.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: That sometimes you stumble upon the right idea for the right client working with the right people, and everything becomes easy and simple.
