DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

NS : This design was inspired by the Moon. Moon is aesthetic and philosophical. The composition can be considered as the Moon rising behind a mountain or the sea with waves.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

NS : This light plays an active role to accompany people in a working space from morning to the night. It was designed with people working environment in mind.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?

NS : Keep the inspiration promoted and developed.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

NS : This project started as early as 2018 in Taipei. Various types of configuration were explored in several on-and-off tests before s particular setting was determined. The specific set was finalized in 2019.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?

NS : This a pursuit of a personal inspiration.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

NS : The production rights can be sold or leased.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?

NS : The work was developed to provide versatile appearances in the daytime and in the evening.

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?

NS : No other designs and/or designers helped or influenced the design of my work.

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?

NS : Target customers would be interior designers, architects, or persons who want to make a space special.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?

NS : The symbolic texture and its connection to 3C devices makes the design different.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

NS : The name came from the inspiring subject that started in the beginning.

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?

NS : The complicated pattern was made by a 3D printer.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?

NS : This LED table light is powered from a USB hub that can be connected to a computer to warm up a personal working space. It can also create a free stand social hub by connecting to a power bank.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

NS : This work was accomplished by the designer himself.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?

NS : The technology of a 3D printer acts like a strong connection between the order of mathematics and the aesthetics of a moon icon it created.

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

NS : Researches were made to the image of a moon and how a table light should fit in today working space.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

NS : The combination of the two layers of pattern changes from different viewing angles. The most challenging part was to create a visual depth and in the meantime allowed partial visual penetration.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

NS : It is a story that should be heard by people.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?

NS : The design made me rethink the role of technology and the aesthetic metaphor of an icon.

DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?

NS : Not for now.
