DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: We believe that good design can make life better. At the same time, we hope to combine aesthetics with space to make interior design closer to people's lives and senses.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: We tried differently from the traditional office design, using arc walls to create open spaces and private spaces that cannot clearly define the spatial extent.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I will be committed to continuing to create and provide better interior design for people.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: We had proposed a variety of design studies, and after continuous adjustment and improvement, we found the most suitable concept.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: Because the base of this project is an irregularly shaped office space, how to use the design to create the flow of sunlight and space is the main concept.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: We believe that every design is unique. We don't think the same design is suitable for every space, but a good design can improve the quality of life and aesthetics of space.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: At the beginning, I had been thinking about how to design an office different from the traditional style in this irregular base. Just when I thought about the overall planning and layout, the concept of arc wall emerged from my mind.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: My partner worked with me to study different materials and colors.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: I think this design is suitable for people who like to enjoy the sun and nature.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: This is a concept that combines office space with sunlight and nature.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: OTC is the name of our client company which is a bicycle trading company.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Sketch, construction drawing, 3D render and model making.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: We designed an office that is different from the traditional Taiwanese office style. We used 280 cm high arc walls to distinguish between open space and working area.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We worked with the woodwork construction team to create the way that make the arc walls.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The arc wall must be 280 cm high to show the visual effect of the space and the penetration of the sun.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: We kept trying and finding the minimum curvature of the arc wall.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: To create a comfortable and beautiful office in an irregularly shaped building structure is the challenge of this design.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: We would like to communicate with designers from more countries to learn about better designs from around the world.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: We understand that a good design does not require too much cumbersome materials and construction.
