DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The inspiration was based on a trip in Venice. As the bricola signs warn the travellers, the bracelet describes a journey with a safe return. The journey encounters dangers, but the traveller seaking safety and stability manages to achieve his goal.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main focus was to present a simple but extravagant piece of jewellery. The combination of metal, precious stones and feathers was made in purpose to show how contradicting structures can present a minimal yet interesting result.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: The plan is to communicate this award winning design to Jewellery Design Week events in Europe and in the USA.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The designing part of this project lasted a month. The main ispiration began in July 2018 , the first designing drafts were made in September 2018 and the final piece was made in October 2018.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The concept was born in the Venice canals. In the Italian landscape, were luxury and baroque themes give birth to many artists.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The design was designed to be manufactured and presented to the public through our company.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: My participation in an group exhibition made me design this particular type of work.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: The design was designed and made only by myself.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The target customer for this design as it is, are women that want to make a statement presentation. If the feathers are replaced by rubbies, sapphires or any other coloured stone, it can be worn by anyone, woman or man.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The interesting contradictions of the materials sets this design apart from others similar to it.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name came easily while travelling in the inspiration land of Venice. Bricola is the name used for the wooden poles seen in the canals that warn the water vessels for the water depth.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: I only used paper and pencil as designing tools.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The most unique part of the design are the sapphires set with their pavilions facing upwards.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I collaborated with my workshop colleagues for finishing touch and stone setting.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Technology helped in giving life to the whole project. The polishing, metal plating and the stone setting couldn't be achieved without the appropriate machinery.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: The design did not began through research. The whole was based in experience and influental techinques.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The biggest challenge was to present pointed ends at the top view through using presious stones.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I decided to submit my design to this international design competition as a challenge. I believe that it is very unique for its kind and that it is a representative of Greek handmade jewellery making.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Every piece of work gives out new challenges and pleasure. Through this particular making, I learned how difficult it is to combine different materials and textures.

: Bricola is a theme for Venetian landscape and Greek jewellery.
