Iker Ortiz ("IO") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work Collection six Jewelry. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
IO : The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex which is a large former industrial site in the city of Essen, Germany.
IO : The main focus was on achieving a specific shape and texture in the pieces. A finish on that will reflect the texture of the old charcoal mine.
IO : Expand our brand on the USA and Europe, keep designing new jewelry collections.
IO : Six months.
IO : I decided to pursuit my own inspiration after a trip I made to Germany and visiting the coal mine.
IO : Produce the work myself. I have my own workshop in Mexico City.
IO : I'm always looking for new ideas, trying to design with unconventional materiales used for jewelry such as stainless steel and electrostatic paint in this ocassion. It was interesting to find new shapes, for example, in rings and necklaces in this collection but always with the idea of creating portable pieces.
IO : Architects, designers, creatives, or any people interested in buying a jewelry piece with great design and even a little of art on it. Anyone looking for a really special piece.
