: The main idea for Octo was to design a lamp having in mind sustainability.
: The main focus in this design was to create a lighting solution with a modern concept, that transmitted a warm and comfortable feeling by playing with the materials and textures.
: The future plan for Octo is to find a local manufacturer and start creating the first produces pieces of the lamp, then find a way to start selling them wherever is on an online platform or in a local store.
: Octo was developed during four months in my semester abroad in Kortrijk, Belgium.

: I have always been fond of designing lighting solutions, and wanted to create a product that played with the materials I had at hand during my semester abroad in Belgium.
: One of the biggest influences in my designs is Dieter Rams, and I have always worked with his 10 principles of good design in mind.
: I believe one thing Octo has that sets the design apart from other concepts, is not only the aesthetic but the meaning behind the process and materials
: The name of the design came form the shape i gained inspiration from. The lamp has eight sides, so it has an octagonal shape and from there I got the name Octo.
: For the concept I followed the design thinking process, and once I had my concept I used an EcoAnalyis tool to redesign my first concept into a more sustainable one. For the realisation of the prototype I worked mostly with laser cut.
: The fact that the shades of the lamp can be easily put together, and if the user wants they can order them in different colors and materials to create and unique and personalised design.
: Begin in my last year of university I was told by many of my teachers and mentors that a good way to enter the profesional design world is to enter in design competitions, so I came across the A'Design Award and give it a try and enter one of my best projects.
