DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The Love Power, Romantic & Precious.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Main focus on can be some difference with others jewelry shop. Especially can use the logo to be a pendant.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Malacca is a small town in Malaysia, the exposure and knowledge of original artwork creativity was not well known among the locals especially logo design. I hope by winning this award able to increase the awareness of what original artwork creativity is and the locals will learn to start appreciate it. Besides, I also hope that this award would be an inspiration for other designers to never give up in original artwork creativity as this path is never easy. Lastly, I believe that by winning this award will boost my confidence to start up a classic romantic jewelry boutique.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: There is this customer found my company in Google search and linked him to Miko Creative Facebook page. He called up one day and I was told he loved my designs and wanted me to design a logo for his jewelry business. It was a brainstorm design as the customer did not give much info on what he wants except two words, SK Joaillerie which was also his business name. I then noticed that Joaillerie is a French word, and to me Italy is a romance country. Therefore, romantic concept is the idea that I looking into for his logo design.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The design was an artwork to be sold to my customer, however, he agreed to let me have it back after knowing that I was nominated for this competition. And of course a new logo design will be replaced for him in exchange. Trademark for this design has been applied and I do not have the intention to sell it at the moment.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Fantasy. The passion and desire can overcome all difficulties.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Couples and Females.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: There is already a jewelry company called SK, so I do not want to use the same name for my design and is very common for jewelry shop to use Swan as their design concept and everyone knows Swan represent romance. I want to be different, instead of using Swan, I used French Angelfish which also represent romance.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: SK, Spark and Koyi, the holder of company. Joaillerie means jewelry in French.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Adobe Illustrator.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: It creates LOVE.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: No body, it's design by myself. Drawing in Adobe Illustrator software.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Emotional appeal.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: When I decided to implement France Romance for this design, I googled what represent this romance for example flowers or animals. This is when I came across French Angelfish and this fish caught my attention. I then decided to use French Angelfish as my idea.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: I am using Fish for this design. The challenge here is how to not give people think that it is an aquarium shop but it is a jewelry shop at first sight.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I have not participate in any design competition so far due to lack of exposure. I came to know this competition is because one my of client mentioned that her previous logo design was designed by a A'Design Award winner. I googled A'Design Award and I only discovered the existence of this competition and decided to give myself a try.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: The space of creativity is infinite. Research and analyze logo every time when i start a job.
