DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: I wanted to deviate from all 'standard' beer labels. The art movement Art noveau is a great source of inspiration for this design
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I wanted to make a nostalgic label. A label that exuded craftsmanship.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: No plans.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The basis of this label has lasted 20 hours.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: I decided to pursuit an inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: My intention is to produce my work for myself.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I brew beer for myself, and therefore wanted to have a nice label.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: More information about the brewing process is given. The label has a traditional styl / handicraft.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name is fictional and self-created. It sounds like a beer coming from the country of Belgium. In the Netherlands, people then get the idea that they are drinking special beer.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Thirst i draw the concept on paper. Then i scanned the drawing and draw it in Adobe Illustrator. Finally i finished it in Indesign, with a connection to a database.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The extra information about the brewing process.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Nobody, I made it by myself.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: It is connected to a datase. This gives the bottles a unique number. The first bottle to be printed is given bottle number 1. The next number 2.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I didn't research.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The difficult thing was to get a good harmony between the shapes and colors on the label.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I have been invited by A 'Design Award & Competition by mail. Here I was asked to participate for award consideration.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I had to be very patient with this development. If I would finish this too soon. Then you get standard square planes.
