DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The song, "Pomp and Circumstance" is the inspiration of the design. Since, it is a classical song, the packaging had to reflect that.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I wanted to make something classy, since the brand was influenced by a classical song. Also, the design had to have some fun aspects to it, since it is a hot sauce.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Hopefully there are more flavours, so I expand the brand.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: A few days. It was a tight deadline with a tight budget.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: It was commissioned and I really wanted to design a hot sauce.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: My client is selling it, since it's his hot sauce.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Was intrigued by the idea of creating something off of a classical song.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Art deco movement was inspirational to this piece.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Anyone who enjoys spicy stuff.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Anything classical is usually taken very seriously. Wanted to add a fun spin to it by incorporating light hearted icons.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Influenced by a classical song, 'Pomp and Circumstance'.

: Pen, paper, Adobe Illustrator

: Contrast of classical aspects of design with fun icons.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Just winged it with the client.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Finalizing the design.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I went to the grocery store to look at a bunch of hot sauces, and watched "Hot Ones", a Youtube series hosted by Sean Evans.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: A challenge was to make a hot sauce look classy and having design elements mimic the song the client was inspired by.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: This project was one that I had a lot of fun making, so I wanted to see if the design was good enough to make the cut.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Take a breather to let the design sit a bit before you look at it again. Also, it's always good to ask someone to take a look at it and give some thoughts.
