Lise Fournier ("LF") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work Nature Balance Residence House. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
LF : The core values of this transformation were to be engaged with nature by bringing the outdoors in and to create an open plan environment.
LF : The three key strategies consisted of relocating the central staircase to the north facing wall, eliminating several interior wall partitions and partially opening the second floor to the living room below. This created a flexible open plan and allowed for high elevated ceilings and large expanses of windows, thus inviting the outside nature inside the home.
LF : This concept took 1 year to design.
