DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: My main idea and source of inspiration for designing this product is black hole and wormhole. The concept of the black hole refers to the suction of everything into itself. It sucks everything into itself. That is why it is black because even light cannot escape it. The concept of wormholes also refers to the concept of transition between two points of a black hole. My product is a kitchen hood. What does it do? Suction of smoke and odor from its surroundings (the same as black holes) and its transfer from there to outside (such as wormholes). In fact, inspired by black holes and wormholes, I designed this hood.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Improving the power of the hood motor and optimizing consumption by changing the shape of the body compared to similar models, transmitting the sense of suction and power to the user with the help of the concept of black hole and wormhole, as well as adapting the hood for kitchens island.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Preparing BlackHole Hood for mass production.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: In addition to being an industrial designer, I am also an amateur astronomer, and my great interest in space and astronomy has led me to always use concepts and sometimes astronomy and space solutions in designing my products. BlackHole Hood also gradually formed and completed in my mind and knowledge of astronomy and knowledge of space helped me a lot.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The design of this concept started with the formation of the idea of designing a hood inspired by the black hole, and after reviewing and studying, I came to the conclusion that this idea could become a successful product. That's why I started designing it.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I had several offers to produce it, but I did not find any of them suitable and in accordance with my standards. I welcome reasonable and helpful suggestions.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Very good idea, interest in the type of product as well as the topic of inspiration
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: I cannot specifically refer to a specific person or a specific design because different and diverse designers and designs and trends have directly and indirectly influenced my work. But in general, I can say that I see beauty as the ultimate simplicity and purity of a thing, and I like to design this way.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: This hood is designed for kitchen islands and is also suitable for small spaces.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Increasing the product efficiency and optimizing the consumption by changing the shape of the body compared to similar samples. It is suitable for kitchen islands as well as kitchens with limited space. Proportion of body shape and product and its function with the concept of black hole and wormhole.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Inspired by black holes and wormholes, I designed this hood. My product is a kitchen hood. What does it do? Suction of smoke and odor from its surroundings and its transfer to outside (as wormholes). That's why I named it BlackHole Hood.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: 3D modeling software, rendering software and presentation.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Matching form, performance and concept in this product at a unique level.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I designed this product individually. But in the testing and analysis of engine suction power, I got advice from several experts in this field.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Technology plays a very important role in the design of the BlackHole Hood. Upgrading the engine power and using the screen touch screen for the buttons section are examples of the prominent role of technology in this product.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Yes. Tests and analyzes on the suction power of the hood motor.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: One of the most important ones was the challenge of designing the form of the body of this product inspired by the black hole, which eventually led to the creation of a form that is very different from other hoods designed to date, deconstructing and at the same time practical.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Interest as well as challenges.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Every moment of designing any product can be challenging and instructive for a designer. This project was the same for me. Designıng a form that fits the function and concept. Technical and engineering departments and as always the beauty.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: Thank you for this interview.
