DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
VV : The idea behind this project is to combine functionality and design to create a chair for non residential purposes.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
VV : I think it is the comfort and functionality.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
VV : This project have several awards including A'Design award. Happy to share that it also won Asia Design Prize, with Karim Rashid in the jury.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
VV : Shaping the idea in my head took more time then the actual realization. I assume several months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
VV : Inspiration is the main engine of this project.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
VV : Unfortunately i don't have any manufacturing capacity so i will be more than happy to discuss partnership.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
VV : Probably the need to create something useful and at the same time good looking.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
VV : I would say no. No other references were used in this project.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
VV : The target customer could be a company for non residential furniture equipment.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
VV : I wanted to add my own style, using bright colors. Probably this is one of the main differences.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
VV : Galaktika, yes. If you see the inside of the chair, you will find this galaxy of soft spheres. This is where the name came from.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
VV : 3D CAD build software, rendering software.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
VV : Every designer have its own style. I also like to put my signature with my style to all my designs.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
VV : No, i prefer to work on my own.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
VV : Major part of the designing is supported by the technology. Nowadays its very important.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
VV : Yes, the research was oriented to the needs of people when they use these non residential furniture.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
VV : The main change was the colors and materials of this chair. Design was kept but i made several other versions using different colors of the upholstery, different materials to the main construction as well
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
VV : In my opinion its a very good and eye caching design, so decided to try sharing it.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
VV : Every new project is a step further. You should always look for inspiration and try to brake your own boundaries.
