DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Balance commercial value and social value.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: This service system consolidates various resources in the city and establishes a connection platform that centers around the umbrella rental service. In addition to providing convenience for people's outdoor travels, this umbrella rental service is also designed to promote the positive social spirit of "mutual assistance and mutual trust between citizens and between cities" and to strengthen citizens' sense of belonging in their cities.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: We hope that more and more actors in the city will participate in it, constantly enrich our ecology, support each other, and finally bring quality services to citizens and improve people's quality of life.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took half a year.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: It comes from the idea we've been trying to figure out, how do we create a synergy between business value and social value while meeting the needs of our customers.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: We are the creative partner of usaaan, and we manufacture and use our products together. In addition, we cooperate with third parties by leasing and selling the whole set of solutions.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: It's about trying, it's about exploring.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Mobike, an influential brand of Shared bikes in China, has inspired us both in terms of design logic and business model.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Office workers and all citizens over 12 years old
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Firstly, in terms of product design innovation, we put forward the "simplicity" design principle of " A Lock Manages the More Umbrella" to improve the efficiency of the design, the cost and the space occupied are respectively 20% and 30% of the similar products. Secondly, on the business model, we cooperate with local radio stations to go deep into a city, so that we can get close to users and understand them better.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The Chinese name of usaaan means "everyone has an umbrella", no matter what scene, person or time. This is very consistent with our original intention
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Service Design.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Society, government, enterprises, and citizens are all beneficial.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We work with designers of different professional backgrounds, local residents, local government and computer technicians.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The Internet of things.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Yes, we analyze users' usage habits through operation data and adjust the layout, for example, adjust the charging standard according to the usage time and adjust the layout of branches according to the use of hot spots.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Marketing is a challenge to us.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Although our service is appreciated by both clients and users, what level will it be when it is put on the international stage? What would other people think of our design? Does this model make sense outside China? We don't know anything about it, and we want to know.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: The current design problems are not solved simply through brand design or product design. We need to have broader thinking and more tools to provide comprehensive solutions for clients and users. To quote Steve Jobs, “Stay hungry, Stay foolish”.

: In the future, we will continue to use innovative thinking to let more startups to build their brands, exciting brands.
