: The idea behind the design is to capture the essence of traditional Chinese architecture by engaging new technology and materials.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main focus of this work is to make this project a showcase to reshape our cultural self-confidence.

: The award is a big encouragement about the direction we are moving on. We will make this award winning design more exposed to help our practice in design and business development.

: About 3 month.

: This design was commissioned.

: We are professional architects.

: We have worked with our client and landscape architect closely to make sure we get the best outcome.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Sunac, one of the largest developers in China.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: We tried to develop a new direction towards translating the traditional Chinese culture with modern approach.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: We used the metal mesh as the key material and it appears like a curtain.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Autocad and Rhino.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: A secondary sustainable translucent skin made out of metal mesh.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We worked with curtain wall consultant and lighting consultant.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The steel structure makes the feel of lightness possible.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: We did research regarding the energy saving by the metal mesh as secondary skin.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The challenge is that the building will be converted into a kindergarten after the use as a sales office.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: We want this unique project to be recognized and get more exposed.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: We have learned a lot of knowledge about the metal mesh.
