DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The Fina coffee table is a combination of simpleness and elegance. A timeless and unique piece of furniture.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The focus was to create a commercial and a very special table.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took me about few weeks to design and a couple of months to develop the prototype.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: The Fina table has been produced and commercialised by the Brazilian company Vermeil.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Customers who appreciate a handmade and special piece of furniture.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Fina means slim and "elegant" in Portuguese. I believe this name suits very well the table due to its shape and design.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The handmade process and its elegant and slim design.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I work in partnership with the Brazilian company Vermeil. They are a 40 years experience company and very specialised in handmade wood stuff.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The laser cut was essential to give resistance and good quality structure to the table.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The main challenge was to achieve a very high quality piece of furniture without losing its delicate shape.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Because I believe this is a very special table and because it is important for the press and the design industry.
