DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

: It is come from Memphis group who work often incorporated plastic laminate and was characterized by ephemeral design featuring colorful decoration and asymmetrical shapes, sometimes arbitrarily alluding to exotic or earlier styles.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

: It is the balance of color arrangement. As we know, Memphis style has many type of color, which is not easy to put them all into a box.I still need to combine function and style together as a set top box.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?

: I wish my design can be produced successful.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

: It takes me for 2 month to complete this concept and design.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?

: Existing set-top boxes which do only their functional output role were designed with disorganized appearance by low-priced finishing materials, so most of users put them in a place out of range of vision.So,It will be change this situation if there is different product of set top box on the market.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

: Not being produced yet.But it is a concept design for Caldero Electronic Lt.Co where locate in Leeds/Uk. it is still processing for further details and cost calculation and it will consider to produced at Sep 2017.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?

: I want to make things different. No more boring black plastic as a set top box.I wish people would love to put them in a place of obvious

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?

: Young person or other age person who have a differnt sense of life is the big target of my design.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

: The name is Mempbox. It is the first 4 character from Memphis. Remind people of Memphis style.

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?

: Basically, it like other Designer, I use Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to enhance my renderings. And Siemens NX software and keyshot as well.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?

: No more black color for a set top box.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

: Nope. I work this design by myself.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?

: Plastic-ABS-PC, injection molding

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

: I research the existing products market to find out almost all type of set top box.I have research user's living environment, user behavior, interior design trend as well and other possible potential target relate to this product.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

: How to reduce the cost of manufacturer and different tasty of people.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

: A'Design Competition is a famous award around the world which can proof my design is good quality of creative.
