We had the distinct pleasure to interview award winning designer Zofia Dziurawiec about their original and creative Visual identification design work. Zofia Dziurawiec is an award-winning communication designer, that makes our world a better place with their original visual identification works.
Zofia Dziurawiec ("ZD") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work Polikultura Visual identification. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
ZD : The project is a response to the assumptions and theme of the 5th edition of the festival of culture and the media in Krakow. We drew inspiration from the phenomenon of censorship and rebellion.
ZD : The main idea of our design is to create an identification that interacts with the viewer and encourage him to play with the design by changing or even destroying it.
ZD : This design will be implemented as a visual identification of Polikultura festival.
ZD : It took us 6 months to develop the whole project.
ZD : We made this project in Typography and Lettering Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. It was made as part of a project between the universities.
ZD : This design will be used as an identification for the Polikultura festival in Krakow.
ZD : We desired to work on a visual identity project that would not only develop our design skills but, above all, teach us to realize a project that would be implemented and used publicly.
ZD : The other designers that helped us and influenced our work were our professors of Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. We discussed with them our ideas and inspirations which was very helpful and motivating to continue developing the project.
ZD : The target customer of our design is a student or an alumnus who is interested in broadly understood art, modern culture and new media.
ZD : This project differs significantly from the basic forms of visual identification that appears on the streets. It breaks with the convention of a clean, undisturbed design and it interacts with the viewer.
ZD : The name of this design is a name of a festival for which we designed a visual identification.
ZD : We used the method of scanning and programmes like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. The project was also created manually by sticking the tape to the printouts.
ZD : It was partly created by a computer and partly by hands which makes it very unique and inimitable.
ZD : We collaborated together as students of Graphic Arts.
ZD : Technology does not play a big part in this project. We focused on the direct interaction with the customer.
ZD : Our design isn't influenced by any data research. It is based on knowledge of human nature and behavior.
ZD : We faced the problem of project readability. We wanted to create something that is both very rebellious, censored and readable by a customer.
ZD : We decided to submit our design after a conversation with our Studio professor. She encouraged us to submit this competition.
ZD : We were using some unconventional graphic techniques in this design which made us learn to look less trite for our future projects.
