DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Far from being spaces just specialized for guests and visits temporally and spatially,saloons are transforming into work and entertainment spaces where all the domestic practice of an individual in the new domesticity occur. Activities that are defined with periods and spaces in a day before (work,dinner,resting) are now taking place inside the house at the same time and in the same space.In such circumstances,it is neccessary to answer the new domestic's need at the same time and place.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: In the user’s living space,it will be able to undertake the task of a coffee table and meet the needs of putting, leaving, keeping in mind a number of objects; It is not only designed for laptop use, but may be less specific for laptop use; It can allow different seating positions without limiting mobility when using on the knee;In short, a home furniture that is not intended for use on the knees but is still recommended use in moments found in seating units such as seat couches for short-term.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I do not have a plan yet, but I can apply for a patent.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: About 3 months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The New Domesticity Project aims at rethinking the domestic life in a 36m2 living space while considering and designing furnitures that will correspond to this life with it's broadest sense, not as a product but a conception.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: No, Ultraleggera didn't produce by another company.
