DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The main idea and inspiration was the rune, the old bridge of Bassano and nature.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main focus in this work was to create a new type of bed simply, funtional, sustainable by using wood, I think that wood is one of the best ecomaterial. I hope that people and companies like it, this is my archieve.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: I decided to pursuit an inspiration and was pretty difficult initially.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: My design was produced by myself, I don't know, it depends I will evaluate the various proposals.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: This particular work was inspired by books.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: The old bridge of Bassano and the rune.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: I don't have a particular target customer, I think all the people that like it and want it, the material(durmast) and the process are not too expensive. This is great because means that this product can be sell to a wide range of people.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: I think that this design is unique, that's why I'm here.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Was inspired by the rune itself, Dagaz mean sunrise, rebirth, light,
renovation, transformation and cyclicity.
It's a great meanings for a bed?
I think that suits perfectly, but only time will give us response.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: I used only Autocad.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: I think the simplicity and the unique aspect itself, this design it's built to last, is not a product built with the rules of the planned obsolescence. the messages that I want share with the people are: wood is a sustainable material, strong and beautiful. Every tree is unique like humans, with strengths and weaknesses, this is not a "dead" material like plastic or metals, solid wood always "live" and give a great feelings to our senses . This is a concept that always amazed me.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I worked alone on Autocad at the entire project , and for the realization I worked in collaboration with a carpenter.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The technology was used to invent the design and test the 3d object on Autocad, and then was used a cnc machine to produce the bed.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Only old, beautiful and fragrant books mixed with my immagination.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: during the design/realization the main challenges was
bureaucratic and financial.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: For improve myself, personal reasons and for put myself on the line.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I learned that all the big things start small, and that I can improve myself every single day, step by step.
