DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Museum and gallery spaces and random conversation with friends.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I focused on make more minimal collection than previous one and tried to show a diversity of black color by using different textiles.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Nearest plan is starting to build up new collection and make planning to collaborate with photographers and stylists.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: 3 to 5 months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The story of this collection was narrating my personal memory of wardrobe with minimalism perspective.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Yes. S'MM Fall/Winter 2017 collection will sell at BlackTalk, which is USA retailer boutique in Portland, and Carnet De Mode that is online store based in Paris, France. Also, customers can purchased S'MM website.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Playing with textiles and keep extracted design to make minimal.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Phoebe Philo and Celine is my favorite brand. Her work always gives me lots of inspiration and motivation.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Early 20s to Late 30s women.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: My design shows minimalism vision even having a familiar concept.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: I just think about what was the my start point of this collection.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Draping, Pattern Making, Sewing, Material research, Concept research, and e.t.c. My process is very similar with other fashion designers' process.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Simple but having feminine detail. Bit exaggerated scale and oversized proportion.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I did collaboration shooting with photographer, named Matin Zad, for F/W 2017 lookbook.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: I do not have.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The hardest challenge is transforming imagination to make wearable clothes.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I hope to introduce my fashion design and my brand as internationally.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: After this collection, I improved technical skills as a fashion designer and brand management and business skills as a brand owner.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: The meaning of my brand name, S'MM. S'MM means Stella's MoM! Stella is my adorable dog so I just want to mention about her at the end of interview.
