DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: My inspiration came from the Hmong of Vietnam where everything lies within their jewelries are all symbols of nature. In my design, I combined the shape of the moon and the carved details from the Hmong's jewelries and clothes to praise the beauty of an ancient God in their tales which is the moon itself.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Pristine Moon combines modern and traditional scent so it is suitable for several kinds of women's clothes such as casual and formal and also goes really nice with bohemian style. So it has good function and great appearance for all women in the world. I desire to bring the beauty of ethnic culture to all the people that it is not only for the ones who dare to dress differently but for those who like it more simple and easy to put on. And people actually like it very much because of its function.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I just simply want to wear it to any where I go.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took me a month to complete the design, from building up the concept to the finished sketch, and then 2-3 months to make it real and perfect.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The beauty of the Vietnamese ethnic is the one thing I keep on chasing from the beginning of my college years. It is so basic and simply that it is hard to recreate. Putting it into a design is not easy yet giving me temptation to making art with it.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: This piece of jewelry - Pristine is for myself only and made by me. I do not attempt to sell it.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Pristine Moon has the meaning of history, the past and the present and also the future where all we do is preserve the legacy of our lifetime through the beauty of nature and mankind trhough the eye of ethnic people.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: All men and women.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The exciting part about this necklace not only about the meaning but also how it is going to affect the styles. Pristine Moon can be wore with casual clothes because of its simplicity of material; or it can be very suitable for specific style like bohemian and also women's suits with an open V-neckline. And plus, this piece of jewelry can go well with formal dresses. The jewelry we use does not have to be sparkle with diamonds and gemstones. It can be so true and pristine like the name itself bringing us the idea of the ancient beauty through the silver light.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: I was tempted by the Hmong's imagination of Mother Nature and the urges to create fashionable jewelries for all women of the world. The appearance of nature under Hmong's eyes is very unique. DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Its flexible function with several kind of cloths and styles.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I got some advises from a local jeweler in the making of Pristine Moon.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I want to bring Vietnam closer to the world.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: First of all, is the skill of combining knowledge and design. And then it is the skill to work this design from sketch to reality.
