DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Based on concepts, Transparent Shell gains inspiration from a rich variety of sequences in nature. By dissecting, extracting shell structure and restructuring, it reveals the tension of life evolution. Conch-shape helix is blended with vertical, balanced, stable and standard three-dimensional grid. Density and depth of different degrees are on one hand, in mutual erosion, harmony and coexistence and on the other hand, in antagonism, competition and conflict.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: We mainly focus on how to building integration, make the city, the environment, and the space extend fuller interaction and blending, with the question we created the construction device “Transparent Shell”. This is the thought about creating and recreating, create a "function with" space, visitors could feel free to imagine the meaning of various “shell” functions.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: In the future design, PONE is tend to a strong personality narrative, a rich sense of material, plus the landscape like picture and delicate detail processing. According to different projects inject different thoughts, but ultimately return to the authenticity of the building, still to create the soul space, driving by human development in the right direction.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: Starting to built from November 2nd, 2015,until December 4th Guangzhou Design week begin, formal foreign exhibit the PONE Experience Pavilion named “Transparent Shell”. Almost a month to construct, before building after some deliberation and consideration, a premade, eventually to the outside world show a special space structure, get domestic and international design awards’ affirmation and honor.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: We are honored to receive an invitation of Guangzhou Design Week. In exhibition area to show our design, let's we can present adequately and freely, full-bodied PONE’s design sense on this platform. Create a pace equipment like "performance art", the deep understanding inside to architecture through the three-dimensionally, we have tried.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: None at all. We can use it to inspire our designer, and push them to get a higher level. In the future, we will create more miracles, to improve the human aesthetic
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Under the dual interaction between thought and space, there came into being a new type of experience in the Transparent Shell, which even surpassed the sense of reality brought by thoughts themselves. Therefore, Transparent Shell activated space behaviors from multiple thinking levels, discovered and explored the interactive space constructed by human beings and architecture and created behavior connection with new thoughts. In the Transparent Shell, one could explore and walk around at will and imagine freely, during which one’s vision, audition and perception were aroused, thus realizing the infinite thinking within the architectural space as well as profound insight and awareness in a simple, natural and primitive way. This is where the charm of space and source of thought, modern architecture, in addition to its functions, should be the carrier of humanity and free will.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Get inspiration, the construction of skeleton, Process the craft, etc, this is the result of in-depth thinking crashin our design team, show the different Space, Texture and Materials
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Everyone who loves life
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: In the Transparent Shell, one could explore and walk around at will and imagine freely, during which one's vision, audition and perception were aroused, thus realizing the infinite thinking within the architectural space as well as profound insight and awareness in a simple, natural and primitive way. This is where the charm of space and source of thought lies-modern architecture, in addition to its functions, should be the carrier of humanity and free will.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Being translucent and unstable, spaces gleam with light and shadow and keep changing between appearing and fading. Multi-layer open combinations are the new representation and interpretation of internal and external open sites that interplay both inside and outside. Based on concepts, Transparent Shell gains inspiration from a rich variety of sequences in nature. By dissecting, extracting shell structure and restructuring, it reveals the tension of life evolution. Transparent films are chosen to connect the interface of the shell. They are woven like silks, stable but also taking on an organic and casual form. Penetrated by the light, the texture produces a flexible and changing effect of light and shadow, thus constructing a translucent, dim, intensity-varying, stable and uncertain world.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Step 1 Base Laying: transparent films were used to twine keels so as to produce viscous adhesion layer. Step 2 silk stroking: the methods of rolled folding and stretching were employed to provide the ordinary electrostatic transparent films with a silk-like quality and flowing mercerization, thin but tenacious. Step 3 weaving: films were divided into groups. Through static electricity and viscous quality, the wire-drawing transparent films were woven, stretched and glued onto the base interface. In this way, a complete shell gradually came into being. The whole weaving process is like silkworms spinning cocoons.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The form shown is the most unique aspect of your design. The whole process of weaving, it like a silkworm spits a cocooning. Test the connection order continually, Control the direction of silk and density, to achieve the ideal effect. Such the multi-individual, “Shell” forms traction and united the interaction between thoughts and actions. This is not only a creative process, but also a design process as a show of “performance art”.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: The excellent design team in my own company is all professional.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The whole process of weaving, it like a silkworm spits a cocooning. Test the connection order continually, Control the direction of silk and density, to achieve the ideal effect. Such the multi-individual, “Shell” forms traction and united the interaction between thoughts and actions. This is not only a creative process, but also a design process as a show of “performance art”.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: We attempted to rediscover the alternating potential of order construction. Urged by the question on how to integrate architecture to further interact and blend cities, environments, human beings and space, begin to in-depth discussion, finally create a space that can let the heart calm.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: 2015 PONE ARCHITECTURE Experience Pavilion (Guangzhou Design Week) attempted to rediscover the alternating potential of order construction. Urged by the question on how to integrate architecture to further interact and blend cities, environments, human beings and space, it created the construction unit Transparent Shell. Meanwhile, it is also a reflection on creating and recreating.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Learned that A 'Design Design Award in the international influence is so big, can get this award will be a great milestone on my design road.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Actually, building is constantly changing, means you when moving the body will feel the different design. Experience the perspective of the overlap, the art, architecture, landscape combine into one structure, continuously into the crowd, listen their inner voices, with their own efforts to change now seemingly harmonious order.
