DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Simplicity in basic geometric shapes
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: My motto with the lamp was "less is more" like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said.I wanted to design something that had few parts but was also functional at the same time.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I would like it to be produced and sold in the market.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took about 3,5 months in total.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This project was commissioned by my teacher as a midterm project in my junior college year.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I would like to sell my design to a company which can produce it.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Midterm project in college.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Anyone who appreciates the usage of basic shapes in design.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The moving base and the 360 rotating rod. These make Inlor differ from other similar concepts, which are not that functional in terms of the angle and the adjustable intensity of the LED's.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: In lor means "light" in a game I was playing when I was a little kid.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Computer programs like, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, Rhinoceros, Luxion Keyshot etc. While making the prototype 5 axes CNC etc.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The most unique aspect of my design is that it can achieve "so much" with "so little".
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I worked with Dr.Baris Yazici throughout the project.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Computer programs helped me to visualize what was in my head, and the CNC's made possible to produce a prototype.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Inlor is influenced by the simplicty in design, which can be powerful if you do it right.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Most challenging part with Inlor was that designing the inner part which you place the LED's.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I was browsing the internet, and saw about the A' Design Competition.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I learned that nothing is easily produced even if you designed it right. You have to think about the production part as well as the concept part.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: No thank you
