DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Inspiration comes from the real life.
The idea of a protest against the control of people's lives by governments was growing in me over the past few years.
It was when my parents moved to Russia that I started to observe the "world", where "freedom of speech" means: you can say anything you want, but silently; and "private life" means: you can do whatever you want behind closed doors, but for you will spy. People have problems there posting something in social network, just expressing your own opinion can be punished by the "fiction law". It's terrible.
Then I was reading a book of George Orwell "1984" and at the same time the events associated with Edward Snowden took place.
All these things had an impact on the formation of this project, main poster of which is called "No Signal".
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: As in other works, I try to show a strong idea in very simple way, based on double meaning, symbolic, playful language.
So my goal was to express my idea-protest in very clear and simple way and to share it with the world.
I want people to think about what is going on around them, it is important to fight for their right for a private life.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: As I told before the idea was growing in me over the past few years, but the concept, how it looks like now, I created during a week at the end of 2015, catching the right way for the visualization.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: It is definitely my own project, so it was pursuiting an inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I will be happy if my work will be published in any printed publication, or be used, for example, for some thematic film festival, but I do not want anyone to use it not as it should.
Anyway I am open for proposals.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: I think the biggest influence in general on my style and work has Javier Jaen. And a little bit Stefan Sagmeister.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: People who value the freedom and the rights for their private life. Progressive people.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: A simple symbolic expression of the strong idea in a bright recognizable vizualization.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: No Signal (for "Big Brother"). I think, that main image and what I've said before clarify this.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: creativity and Adobe Photoshop.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: It is not just a poster. It is a protest.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The main challenge for me still exists: I want to share my concept with people all over the world.
The other important creative challenge was to express strong idea in a simple, clear way using double meaning and symbolic minimalistic visual language.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I am a young creative, who is looking for opportunities to realize his creative potential.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I am trying to improve myself everyday, and trying to look at usual things in our daily life in unusual way.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: The most important result is shown on Main Visual Image and Optional Image #1, simple, but strong communication, properly expressing my "protest". Optional Images #2 and #3 just an extension, just to show, that concept expands its boundaries.
The best interaction is to share the idea with others, and to pay attention on what is going on with freedom of private life in other countries. Silence is not an action in this case.
