DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The main principle behind my design is to create an interaction between the product and the end user.
Resulting in a journey how the design emerge by unfolding a flat construction.
In nature we find pure logic for the function it carries. Therefor constructions, whether beautiful or not have always a purpose for it shape.
The honest way nature construct is the way I would like to reflect in my work.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: My main focus was to surprise the end user by the flexibility of the work and show how design gets created.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: My future plans for this award winning design is to reach more living rooms and kitchen tables and to find retailers that can help me spread the word and the design
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Simon Velez, a Colombian architect that works only with bamboo is one of my inspirational sources. Despite limiting himself to one type of material he can create the most fascinating and complex structures.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The target customer for Simon Velez his designs are people that appreciate Architectural constructions made out of bamboo
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The Rising Shell has an interesting way of transforming, this will surprise the end user any time they unfold the piece.
The material combination of wood and rubber is unique with the function it carries.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name Rising has been used
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Not only is bamboo is an environmentally friendly material, it is also very strong and durable.
