DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: When I am given a project brief, I often picture a scene where people can interact with objects within the particular space. I strive for a suitable design that could naturally fit into the scene.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: This project has been devoted for the use of parents and children. The design seeks for extension of parent-child relationship. It is to be used at a child-care centre or domestic homes. Ultimately, the design will offer happiness and a delightful memory to both parents and their children.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Whatever I design, I always try to express happiness through my design. I dream to become a young passionate designer who is eligible to converse about what a “good design” is.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: I wanted to design a playful furniture through a recognition of child’s characteristics. The aim was to satisfy the needs of the given space and the user.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The main objective of the design was to add joy into the experience of child-care centre. I found that there was a lack of toy furniture and a need for one.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: In terms of production sales, I have nothing planned but do feel free to contact me if you are interested.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I am particularly interested in furniture design within the field of industrial design.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: I was involved in the major design procedure and all other works except taking photographs of the final design. The group consists of myself as a designer and a fellow designer as a photographer.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The design can be used at a wide range of space from domestic homes to child-care centre.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The design has been inspired from a trojan horse. I was particularly interested in the climbing and riding aspects of the horse and seek to create a multi-functional piece of furniture.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name of the design was decided in hopes that people would “oh~~~~” when they saw this design.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: The major parts of design work and furniture production have been carried out through the use of CAD. During the production stage I was directly involved with physical modelling.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The furniture can be used as a circular table and chair, as well as toy furniture for kids.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I was involved in the major design procedure and all other works. Photography and image making components were completed as a team.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: I wanted the parents and children to experience happiness through my design.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I wanted to participate in an international competition and get recognized internationally.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: During the project, I have gained professional skills on furniture design and its production. I came a step closer to becoming a furniture designer.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: I dream to become a “good” industrial designer and communicate globally with fellow designers to learn from each other. I wish to contribute to make our society better.
