DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: To create a greater visual impact and smaller environmental impact.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The items were studied to deliver the guests a design “experience”. The sensitive, playfulness, coziness, even the basic items are presented in a more innovative way.
We wanted the guests to feel embraced by the hotel.
The unique design and communication of the items were created with the goal of generating a memorable stay for the guests. A Design that touches people’s day-to-day in a positive way.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I don’t have future plans for this project because the main focus was to developed the strategy design just to use in the Caesar Park Hotels & Resorts.
The future plans are only to include the project in my portfolio as one more award-winning project and maybe to get new clients. (smiles).
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: On this project I spent more then one year.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This project was a commissioned design.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: This project is being used exclusively by the client – Caesar Park Hotels & Resorts
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: To help the client save by consuming less paper and creating pieces with greater durability resulting in a more sustainable project.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: No, I was not influenced by other designs. I just created based on the client´s briefing.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The targets of this project are the clients of the hotels.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Many things. To best show and talk about this project I would have to spend more than one hour speaking or four pages writing. This project was one of strategy design and involved a lot of things:
The reduction of the size of practically all pieces maintained in the manual.
From a design perspective, with our designs the pieces are now more compatible with an upscale hotel.
In the manual´s old table of contents it was difficult to find the pieces and with the new structure of the table of contents the search for items was simplified.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: My work is based on playful, sensorial and interactive concept and in this special project it was possible to include this concept on some of creations.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: This project involved more then a hundred design pieces, for me twenty per cent of the new pieces are unique. Really new concept for hotels amenities.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: To produce all material for the hotel many partners are involved. Too many for me to list all.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: I believe that a good creation is when the design project balances technology and design concept. it is difficult create a good design when we don’t have good a background in material and technology.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The principal point of this new project were to give: The overall economy, 50% reduction in the number of items in the visual identity manual, less paper consumption, creation of the new index structure of the visual identity manual facilitated the search for the items in the new manual, durability- some support materials were also substituted with the aim of generating greater durability for the items and a sustainable Design, we also replaced some plastic or TNT materials for 100% cotton fabric. All paper types specified in the new project are FSC certified papers.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I decided to submit to A´Design awards because I very much liked the proposal of this international design competition and I believe in my creations, with this kind of competition, will be well promoted.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I learned with this project that with good material research we can find a perfect solution to design. With all new projects we have something new to learn. We never know everything and to grow I believe that we need to create always new challenges!
Working with hotels demands a particular design approach. We have to think about durability, cost of pieces because some pieces require ongoing replacement, the logistic, optimization, material as support generating greater durability and much more. Do one hotel project with me and I can tell you more (smiles), or better do it and you can see the difference I’m talking about!
