DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: This is a collection of my graphic design work for different clients. But all of them shared the same graphic design principle, which is focusing on alignment and geometrical form.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I am really enjoying the process of designing and being creative, and the creative thinking can be apply every moment. I particularly love the challenges every time I’ve seen the brief from the client. As a designer we are not only been paid to make things pretty; but to make thing works and benefits people’s life. We always struggle to balance up the functionality & the aesthetics. That’s our job to make things works and look pretty. Design will change the world and make lifes easier; and I am glad I am part of the people who are in the top roll to implement this.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I will create more quality graphic editorial artwork according to the similar design principle.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: Each of the editorial work takes around a week to develop and another week to fine-tune and complete.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: These editorial work were designed for different clients according to their brand personality and identity. It's completely personalised.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Yes all of these artwork owns by my client.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I was trained as an Interior designer, but my passion for graphic design makes me explore more in this field.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: I loves the graphic style of Piet Mondrian, very geometrical and clean.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: This particular editorial design mainly focusing on young and up-coming purchase power.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The carefully chosen typography and photography compliment each other and create a seamless flow in editorial.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: These design has no particular name. It was a collection of graphic work that I've done for private clients.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Adobe creative suite.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Contrast, reader-friendly and clean.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I've created this work solely by myself.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The whole collection was generated by computer. Technology plays an important roles in my graphic and editorial design.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: I did calculate the size of fonts and images carefully to make it perfect to read.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Colour in print design always the main issue for me. I need to print the graphic several time to achieve the correct tone (Because colour and tone in computer projection always not accurate)
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I was trying my luck!
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: As a designer, we not only need to know how to draw and style; but also need to make sure we keep up with advances in industry specific software. . I am constant updating my knowledge of 2D tools and 3d rendering programmes and using iPad apps for sketching, etc. But my next move is going to be less technical and I will concentrate more on business development and marketing my own brand.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: I am so glad to won the gold price here in this competition, and sharing what I’ve done so far. And sharing my stories and being a winner is really a great job, which allowed me to tell my stories and experiences through quality media. One thing I really want to tell the new designers that being the creative industry has never been easy; there are always new people with new skills and better price to beat us down. But what make us special is our personality and the style that distinguished each of us. Out there there is always competition, but the competition makes us a better person.
