DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MAM : Mandarin fish is a unique member of dragonet which is known for it's colorful and specific colors. The pattern of each fish, red, blue, yellow and green are unique and are as specific as a finger print for a human. I found them so fascinating and I tried to show their beauty by designing them.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MAM : My main focus was on the Gem stones colors so they could the possible colorful pattern of a Mandarin fish body.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MAM : CAD designing and rendering took me about a week
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MAM : I designed this piece to show the beauty of underwater nature. There are lots of beautiful creatures in the nature and we might see them everyday but don't pay enough attention to how beautiful they actually are.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MAM : No, It was done by myself.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MAM : I think the colorful patterns made by Gemstones makes it different.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MAM : It is the name of this particular fish that I have designed.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MAM : I have used MatrixGold for CAD designing and Keyshot for rendering.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MAM : The various sizes, colors and the arrangement of Gemstones makes it unique.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MAM : The various colors and the pattern of the Mandarin fish's body itself has challenged me into designing and picking the colors of gemstones.
