DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
EE : Secret of Eternity” was designed inspired by Turritopsis Dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish. This design, which expresses the infinite cycle of life, uses a continuous rotating form that reflects the jellyfish’s graceful movements.
LED lights were preferred to reflect the mesmerizing color transitions. These lights symbolically refer to a future where diamonds may no longer be found. Still, diamonds, which have an eternal life, were included in the design. Natural and technological elements were combined to create a design of the future.
It is planned that in the future, the motion and LED light energy will be powered by solar energy
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
EE : In this design, I imagined creating the illusion of movement and finding a different path in jewelry. I wanted it to be more than just a piece of jewelry — I envisioned it as a work of art carried on the human body.
Additionally, I aimed to express the harmony between nature and humanity through this piece.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
EE : I truly believe that this design is a pioneering step that will inspire future jewelry creations. To me, a design is never just an ornament. It is a reflection of our perspective on the world, the way we express ourselves, and the energy we carry. With this piece, I wanted to explore how we can approach a piece of jewelry from an entirely new perspective. In the future, I plan to develop a full collection based on this concept and of course, it will be powered by nature itself: the sun.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
EE : The design itself took almost six months to complete, and production took another six months. It was definitely a challenging dream to realize, but I’m so happy it came true.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
EE : I wanted to show that all the answers mankind seeks in its pursuit of eternal life can actually be found in nature. With the illusion I created, I aimed to transform the piece into a visual feast and design a piece of jewelry unlike anything done before. Secret Of Eternity was conceived as a design of the future. I envision the future in a functional and unconventional way
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
EE : I wanted to design a mesmerizing piece of jewelry—one that tells a story and captivates with its visual allure.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
EE : Right now, I can imagine this design being worn at an award ceremony or becoming part of a film’s storyline. It’s a truly special piece of jewelry.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
EE : Its story, the lights, and the visual illusion it creates are all part of what makes this piece unique. This jewelry gracefully imitates a living creature. It reflects life, breathing, and eternity with elegance.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
EE : I gave the name 'Secret Of Eternity' to tell the story of eternal life and the secret of immortality of the jellyfish Turritopsis dohrnii, which has eternal life
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
EE : It is completely unique in itself.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
EE : Definitely, I produced this design with Yön Jewelry Company, based in Istanbul, Turkey, and they supported me greatly in this process. They brought my dream design to life. Working with a strong perspective was quite special. I believe you cannot create such a design with just anyone. Since today’s jewelry tends to be more static and conventional, working with the right company and a team that understands you was amazing for me.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
EE : Actually, I received an email from A’Design Award after they saw my design. They recommended and encouraged me to submit such a strong design to the competition. That’s how I decided to participate. The story of 'Secret Of Eternity' already reflects a miracle of nature. This miracle deserved to be recognized internationally. I wanted to contribute to that recognition with this design.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
EE : I thought it was impossible in the design. I learned that it is actually possible.
