DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
WJT : We wanted to create a truly open public stadium that would allow free and unrestricted access.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
WJT : We wanted to ensure that the project becomes a vital part of the community.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
WJT : We hope to develop this idea further with our next projects.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
WJT : About 8 months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
WJT : This design was commissioned by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
WJT : No it's not.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
WJT : Our desire to create more open public spaces.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
WJT : The design of the Panathenaic Olympic Stadium in Athens.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
WJT : The people of Laoag, especially the neighboring university.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
WJT : It's a stadium park funded by public money for the use of the public.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
WJT : It is named after one of our former presidents.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
WJT : Pen and paper. Modeling and rendering software.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
WJT : The open end that allows people to just wander into the stadium.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
WJT : Our engineering consultants.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
WJT : New uses for old materials.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
WJT : Yes we had to make sure there were adequate emergency exits in place and ideal viewing angles.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
WJT : Convincing the client to make this open and accessible to the public.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
WJT : We wanted to call more attention to the idea of making publicly funded stadiums open to the public.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
WJT : We learned how to better deal with various government agencies.
