DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
RS : The main idea was to inspire peace. Design a home filled with details and elements that emit tranquility.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
RS : My main focus when designing is the desire of my client. I want to transmit within my design, the feelings and the personality our clients have shown us. This is the way to create a true home, in which the owner feels tied to.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
RS : Our future plans on this design is for it to become a point of reference for all of our clients, we truly feel that through design we can create anything. Beauty and commodity all in one.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
RS : Casa Udo took a period of five weeks to design and quote from beginning to end.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
RS : Our design concept was defined in every detail by us for our clients. We decided to go with this concept because our client wanted a modern feel that inspired peace. Therefore, we chose colors, textures and furnishings that all were in accordance with our concept.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
RS : This interior design space is our own and we do not plan on leasing it to others.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
RS : We are a design studio, therefore one of our specialties is residential design.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
RS : In this case we were completely inspired by our first interview with our clients, we believe that the first conversations with our clients tell us what we need to know when designing their home.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
RS : Our end client, which is the homeowner.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
RS : This design is unique in its own as it holds a mixture of identities based on our clients' desires and our creativity.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
RS : We always choose a name that even serves for inspiration and more over that can describe our design in one word. For this project we have chosen UDO, which means peace in Hindu.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
RS : While working on this and every project in our studio, we use various tools, like; auto cad, vector works, 3d Design, Power Point and Excel for proforma planing.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
RS : The most unique aspect of our design is the fluidity that is shown from area to area, every space flows like water in a river. There is an easy transition and usefulness to each space.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
RS : Our collaborators are those who work on a day to day in the supervision of these designs, in this case, Arq Diana Rivas and Leandro Ramos worked with me.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
RS : We chose to use, all LED lighting for this design, low consumption air conditioning and MDF paneling instead of wood to create warmth.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
RS : Like in any other work, we faced challenges throughout, I am a very perfectionist designer and since our work speaks for us, i accepted nothing less out of my suppliers. We worked all the finishing with our own team of manufacturers, so they are well adjusted to our standards.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
RS : We have submitted before to others, but this is the first time we have submitted to A design Award.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
RS : There is always room for improvement, listening to my client is one of them, there were instances where my client preferred a variation of the overall concept, and we were able to adjust and deliver to their liking.
