DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MK : The main idea of this design is to eliminate the walls of the museum as much as possible. The design is intended to stimulate the visitor's interest and curiosity about the artworks, as if to arouse their curiosity about what is behind the fog or clouds.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MK : Often, museums themselves feel closed to the expensive, elite world and inaccessible to the average person. Therefore, I wanted to create a museum that was open to audiences. By being open, people can easily become interested in art, and more people will have the opportunity to learn from works of art.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MK : We are proceeding with plans to expand the area of the art museum.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MK : Although the request was for a design for a museum, this is the design that was obtained by pursuing inspiration.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MK : Peter Zumthor, John Pawson, Shigeru Uchida, etc.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
MK : Customers who come to shop at the mall
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MK : I collaborated with designers in sign design, lighting design, and programming design.
