DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
QSA : The design concept for the project focuses on creating comfortable living spaces with dynamism brought by the creative use of different textures and materials.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
QSA : To create an example of upscale villas in an urban setting with luxurious and contemporary decor reflecting a unique sense of style in interior and exterior design.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
QSA : To incorporate similar approaches in more plots of densely populated areas of Istanbul, Turkey.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
QSA : Together with the brainstorming phases, it took about 3 months for a team of 3 architects to come up with the design.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
QSA : The design was commissioned however a lot of extra touches to create consistency with the concept idea such as the interiors being marked by abstract wallpapers, which bring a vibrant aesthetic to the atmosphere, were incorporated to the commissioned design by our team.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
QSA : Our design is being sold by another company.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
QSA : The work is commissioned.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
QSA : Anyone who'd like to live in a quiet, seaside neighborhood in Istanbul.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
QSA : The project is is enriched by the harmonious use of natural materials to create an authentic vibe.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
QSA : The name of the design was already given.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
QSA : CAD software, 3D modeling software.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
QSA : The wooden decks in the backyard and Aosta green marble floors near the swimming pool which provide refreshing areas in harmony with nature.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
QSA : We formed a team of three architects within our company to especially design all the aspects of the project.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
QSA : We heavily rely on CAD and modeling software to be able to conceptualize, present, and finalize the design
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
QSA : The scope of the work and the requirements for the project were already provided by our commissioner.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
QSA : The exterior of the villas is composed of a combination of different materials. The facades feature elements such as Aosta green marble, decorative ceramics, and Wood veneer Alucobond, which provides energy-efficient cladding. The wooden decks in the backyard and Aosta green marble floors near the swimming pool provide refreshing areas in harmony with nature. Bringing together those materials without creating a chaotic look was a challenge to our team.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
QSA : Recommendation by our client.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
QSA : To be able to better implement natural materials to create an authentic vibe.
