DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
RM : I was reading a few psychology books recently and a question came to my mind: What would emotions look like in the visual world? So I did the research and created the posters with graphics and illustrations in English and Chinese.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
RM : The main focus is creating illustrations of the emotions in a clear and creative way.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
RM : I would like to create more design of different type of emotions.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
RM : An inspiration.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
RM : I was inspired by the idea of emotions in visual form.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
RM : The public
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
RM : Creating unique illustrations, combining English type and Chinese type.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
RM : It means the concept-Emotions.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
RM : Adobe AI and Photoshop.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
RM : Creating illustrations to show the emotions in a visual form.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
RM : Technology plays a critical role, the design was created by using Adobe Suite.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
RM : The research of this project was based on information about the subject from the internet.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
RM : Emotions can be abstract and also representational at the same time. The challenge of the project was how to visualize emotions in playful and contemporary design/illustration styles. The research on the connection between facial expressions and emotions was also a challenge but an interesting subject.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
RM : I believe it is worthy to be seen and known by more people.
