DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
SH : Pineapple Pirates.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
SH : A space that is exciting from the moment you enter the store, and that can be enjoyed by a wide range of children and adults alike.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
SH : This project is a facility linked to the winery that won the Silver Award last year.
Right now, we are still working on another facility. We expect all construction to be finished by the end of 2023.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
SH : One month into conceptual design planning.
2 months for basic design planning.
1 month for implementation design planning.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
SH : It was decided to pursuit an inspiration by us.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
SH : This in not sales product.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
SH : We wanted to create a design that as many customers as possible from all over the world would want to come and see.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
SH : Nothing in particular.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
SH : Tourists visiting Okinawa

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
SH : Client decided the name of store.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
SH : Nothing unusual is used.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
SH : Expand your field of vision by design.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
SH : We collaborated with an art concrete specialist to create the pineapple-shaped reliefs we used on the floor and walls.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
SH : None at the time.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
SH : None at the time.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
SH : As is always the case, we struggled with our collaborators to make it happen.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
SH : We entered the A' Design Award for the first time last year and were able to win the silver award, which pleased the client, so we continued to enter the competition this time.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
SH : I always learn a lot about lighting effects as it varies from site to site.
