DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
GDB( : The design was inspired by old-school packaging retro-imaginary and vintage solutions produced for decorative and architectural tasks by previous generations of artists in Western Europe. All the layout key-elements, engraved fruits images, and fonts selection were consolidated into the holistic structure being a retro-styled but easily recognizable as a modern product at the same time.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
GDB( : The design solution was achieved by layout visual structure hierarchy for the texts and illustrative elements to be linked flawlessly together and transfer the main marketing points. Design is created in the so-called modernized retro/vintage style with a feeling of old-school notes so master-pharmacist touch anticipation holds the customer from a first glance and later while the detailed observation of principal design elements coded into a holistic structure transferring the main marketing point: this product is developed by a pharmacist craft-professional company and contains hand-made pharmacist secret recipe inside.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
GDB( : We have no special plans. Definitely, we will inform our regular clients about our team's win. What would you suggest?
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
GDB( : The project was started in July 2019 and consisted of several parts with over 2 months overall duration as there were also a lot of additional SKUs developed on further stages.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
GDB( : This design was developed for GreenRevolution Co. (USA) and they use this design on the packaging of their products.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
GDB( : The Target Audience are US citizens, over 21, who are looking for a modern way of medication and relax.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
GDB( : This design was developed according to team-framework named "AntHill" when all 5 team members were working at the same time over each layout and image on parallel threads. This includes Adobe platform (Illustrator&Photoshop), 3ds max + Vray, Cinema 4D and dozens of custom sropts&softwarewidely used in Cinema Special Effects creation and designed to automate and simplify the routine procedures and also to link all staff to manage all teammates to work over every newly created artwork version together at the same turnaround with seeing the development progress in real-time while editing the layouts, vectors, raster layers, 3D output, render RAW, etc. like the orchestra is playing a symphony.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
GDB( : We tried to achieve this unique feeling in the packaging when you hold the product and understand this is really what you were looking for. The lucky combination of engraving graphics, modernized retro layout, and thoroughly selected fonts makes the matter.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
GDB( : Core working: The Art Director Olga Pargevian and Team Lead Garry Veda.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
GDB( : The new world challenges the role of pure artists in design. Now the designer needs the same technical skills background (I mean mathematics, algorithms, coding/programming) as he has the drawing skills. There are no pure artists in design now, the digital era is coming.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
GDB( : Our design Bureau was invited by email for another design to nominate. After discussing we decided to change the entry for this one as we believed this was a star-design :)
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
GDB( : I believe that skills and expertise are growing when you train them. So every bit of work and every even usual task are creating the foundation for your future level. This is important to be attentive to trifles and find new technologies faster. So the main job experience: don't stop working.
