We had the distinct pleasure to interview award winning designer Masaru Eguchi about their original and creative Photography design work. Masaru Eguchi is an award-winning communication designer, that makes our world a better place with their original photography works.
Masaru Eguchi ("ME") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work The Japanese Forest Photography. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
ME : The first thing is the impulse to make something I've never seen before. Because even if there are similar looking and thinking pieces, they're never exactly the same. When I come up with something I've never seen before, I want to make it, and I do. Simple, right?
ME : What I wanted to express in this work is a natural landscape of the distant past, but also of the distant future. I wanted to share a view that people in the past and the future might have seen.
ME : I don't have any plans. I've wanted to exhibit somewhere and make a collection of my work, but I don't want to do it unless I have an investor. I don't have much money.
ME : I'm sure it didn't take that long. In this case, however, it was different than usual, as I was looking at the first few pictures that were finished, I think I had a concept and started making them right.
ME : This work was made just from my own inspiration.
ME : This work is mine.
ME : Because the works out there didn't satisfy me. That's what all of the work I create, whether commissioned or not, has in common.
ME : Those people are already dead. It's the greats of history that inspire me. Oh, and I am also influenced by natural and social environment.
ME : People around the world. Including those who are about to be born.
ME : It's a mix of primitive religious views, Japanese cultural values and the latest technology.
ME : That's because I was filming in Japan. If I had filmed in other countries, the name might have changed. In that case, I would have given it a more abstract name, but it wouldn't have come across.
ME : Digital camera, Adobe CC, and PC.
ME : That's the essence of it. There's a lot of superficial work in the world, but I like the essential work.
ME : No. I created it on my own.
ME : It's hard to say. This one is also technically normal at the moment.
ME : Fortunately, I had read the classics and researched world religions when I was younger, so I was able to use that knowledge to my advantage. So for this one, the only new research I did was technical.
ME : I can't help it, but when I photograph the universal nature, the pictures look alike. So the challenge is that the number of works is few.
ME : I was contacted.
ME : Observe, think, do, and improve repeatedly. This is something I do all the time. I'm more able to create strong work than I was before this one. That will continue to improve.
ME : Thank you very much. I'm very pleased.
