DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The main idea of this design was to create a unique piece that represents a part of the nature that I used as inspiration.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I wanted to create a centre piece,I had in mind a discerning client who wanted to own a piece of furniture that would be different.I wanted a piece of furniture which would also be an art piece.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: My dream for this design is to be displayed in the homes of the unique furniture collectors.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took me about a month to design this concept.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This design was mainly my pursuit of my inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: I'm currently producing this design under my company but I could be persuaded to lease/sell the production rights.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: My deep desire to design unique furniture pieces was the main reason why I designed this type of work.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: This piece was part of my first furniture collection,I wanted the designs to complement and sometimes contrast each other so each concept influenced another new one.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: My targeted clients are those who have refined taste for something new and different.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: I believe that that the design itself is very different from other designs and that's what sets it apart.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Ngorongoro crater was the inspiration for this particular design so I thought it was the best name for it.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: After the wood pieces were cut by machine the rest of the work was done by hand.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The most unique aspect of this design is the solid wood that it's made of,and the fact that it's hand made.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I worked with trained artisans to realize this design.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I decided to submit this particular because i believed that it was one of the most special design piece from my collection which I thought was appropriate for this particular competition.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: During the designing of this work I got to know a lot about woodwork and the design possibilities as well as challenges when working with wood.
