DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: We add different structures to the brush which is not happening in the normal brush in the market.
It is considered as a innovation in function and design to A plus brush. We add gold and black colors to create a luxury feels. The most important thing is we hope every componinet come with a reason in designing this brush.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I tested many different ways to locate the metal plate that we hope it is not only good looking, but also funcational when people are using the brush.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I hope the award can build up my reputation and hope to help this product on sales point.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: This design took us almost a year to have the final design. We took alot of time on doing the researches and finding the materials.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: It's a design commission. There are always static problems for our users in US and Europe. However there are anti-static brushes in the markets for many years, None of them can completely solve the problem.
We just think maybe it's time to make a improve one.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Our design will be produced and sell to different brands among the world. We have being working with 44 countries producing the hair brushes.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: It's my family business. I studied Graphic Design and 3D animation in college. So it is not hard to create beautiful things to me.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: We work as the team to do the tests and engineers to help us produce the brush. Everyone is talented and very experienced in brush field.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: A plus Brush is targeted on the retailer users in Europe or US with very dry weather conditions.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The similar are only produce from Japan. The Japan brushes are usually in travel size which is very different from
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The A plus Brush stands for Anti-static Plus brush. Since it's a improved concept, we think A Plus is a great name for best or better meanings.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: My background is from 3D animation. So I use maya as my 3d tool and have our engineer to convert to industrial software.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: I really just follow my insdence and vision to my design, but i would make sure it's comfort when using and being compremised .
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: I work with my team, the engineer and designers. Lio Kuo, Robert Huang and Ben Lin
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Anti-static. We add a conductive plate and fiber, so the static can be transmit out when user is using the brush.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: We tested alot brushes, and study the weather humid rates when cause the static, and finally we choose many different kinds of materials to test out the best results.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: We use many new technologies and materials. The costs is high.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I think it is always good to make more people to know the good designs. And it is good for me to have motivation.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Sometimes I am easy to compromised to change in details from the factory stand points. But these details really make things different. I still have alot to learn and hope I will have more experiences to designing the stuff.

: Hope Design industry can focus on brush design more.
